During Jesus’ forty days of fasting in the wilderness, I imagine him walking the wind-swept Mount of Temptation, being listened to, in loving companionship - Father-Son-Holy Spirit - equipping him to face hunger and the Tempter. Was Jesus experiencing spiritual direction? As a retired Anglican pastor, I have been upheld in my wilderness wanderings for more than thirty years by insightful Spiritual Directors. Now as a Spiritual Director myself, I meet people, intentionally and confidentially, in life’s fog and sunshine, as companions in conversation, discovering their own spiritual journey, aware of the space God creates for new possibilities, finding guidance, deepening life in the Spirit following Jesus. I continue to learn to listen to Dianne, my wife of forty years. I am a father, grandfather, guitar noodler, dog-walker of Rosie our golden doodle, and a long-suffering Leafs’ fan. It would be a privilege to journey with you.
