Program Format and Schedule

Tyndale's Bachelor of Education program runs for 16 consecutive months and is divided into four semesters. You will receive a detailed schedule that includes exact timelines and descriptions.

Practicum

Apply what you have been learning during three practicum placements in Ontario schools. Complete approximately 110 days of classroom observation, participation, and practice teaching.

Program Outcomes

  1. Be eligible to apply for an Ontario Teaching Certificate through the Ontario College of Teachers;
  2. Have a thorough knowledge of Ontario’s curricular areas in either the Primary and Junior (including The Kindergarten Program) or the Junior and Intermediate divisions;
  3. Be committed to professionalism, collegiality, equity, service and excellence;
  4. Engage the diversity of learners in today’s classrooms through utilizing the framework of differentiated instruction, developing awareness of culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy, and special learning needs, as well as gaining competency in the use of assistive technologies;
  5. Recognize and honour the rich cultural heritage and knowledge systems of Indigenous peoples, and foster learning environments that actively promote reconciliation and understanding;
  6. Develop the ability to cultivate nurturing learning environments that value and respect the whole person and that enable children to mature intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually; and,
  7. Understand that their beliefs, values and knowledge directly influence professional practice;
  8. Deepen their awareness of self, social, and emotional awareness as they hone their understanding of well being and emerging teacher identity.
