The following are financial aid options available to Teacher Candidates accepted to the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program.


Tyndale Awards

The Bachelor of Education Founders' Award

The Bachelor of Education Founders’ Award is offered to one applicant to the Tyndale Bachelor of Education program. All applicants to the program who qualify for an interview will automatically be considered for this award.

A suitable candidate should exhibit the “heart of a teacher” demonstrated through their experience working with children, their skills, attitudes and understanding of the teaching profession, openness to learning, and articulation of their understanding of faith-based teacher education. Applicants with experience in international education, and/or special education will be given higher consideration.


Tyndale University Graduate Award ($3,000)

Awarded to maximum of five Bachelor of Education applicants who graduated from Tyndale University. This award will be given to the recipients with the five highest entering cumulative GPAs.

An applicant will be considered a Tyndale graduate if he/she has been granted a BA, BBA or BRE degree from Tyndale University, or any of its predecessors. Moreover, recipients will have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at Tyndale to be eligible. A committee will confirm the final recipients.

Tyndale Bursaries

Tyndale has several bursaries available for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program who demonstrate financial need. To be considered for all bursaries Tyndale has to offer, please complete the Tyndale Bursaries application.

Available BEd Bursaries

The Alfred and Marjorie Hill Education Bursary ($4,000)

The Alfred and Marjorie Hill Education Bursary is awarded to a student enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program in the Primary/Junior track who is in good academic standing and demonstrates financial need. The student should have a passion for teaching and missions.

The Betty Ballantyne Brown Bursary ($4,000)

The Betty Ballantyne Brown Bursary is awarded to five students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program who are in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need. The students should be a parent who is balancing education and parenting responsibilities.

The Clarion Bursary ($2,500)

The Clarion Bursary is awarded to five students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program who are in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need. The students should have an understanding (or is able to articulate) that professional teaching is a vehicle through which Christ is served and also demonstrate an interest in teaching in culturally diverse contexts.


Sponsorship Programs

Leadership Scholarship (Church Match Program)

Tyndale will match, dollar-for-dollar, church sponsorships towards a student’s education to a maximum of $1,000 per academic year. This could total up to $2,000 in aid for BEd Teacher Candidates. This program partners with congregations to develop able leaders and help students afford the costs of tuition. Connect your church to this innovative and helpful program.

Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)

Canadian citizens or permanent residents enrolled in approved degree programs at Tyndale may be eligible, if qualified, for government assistance under the Canada Student Loans Program (CSL) and/or provincial student loan programs.

Students interested in applying for OSAP will need to submit two applications:

  • One for semesters 1 to 3 (Year 1)
  • One for semester 4 (Year 2) when the application becomes available

External Award Opportunities

McCullough Bursary

$1,000 award is granted annually to two or more students who are preparing for vocations in education, Christian ministry, or Christian missions, with special attention given to those working with children.

Submit applications directly to the McCullough Bursary Committee.

Deadline for 2025 applications is June 15th, 2026.

Ontario College of Teachers Scholarship Program

The Ontario College of Teachers Scholarship Program awards scholarships that provide financial support to teacher candidates.

The program identifies exemplary role models and pays direct financial assistance to those with a passion for and dedication to the highest ideals of teaching.

The Ontario College of Teachers Scholarship Program offers four awards:

A. Joseph W. Atkinson Scholarship for Excellence in Teacher Education ($1500)
B. Ontario College of Teachers Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Scholarship ($1500)
C. Ontario College of Teachers Intermediate/Senior Scholarship ($1500)
D. Brian P. McGowan Scholarship for Resilience ($1500)
